Bach, Chopin, Ravel, Rachmaninoff
David Khrikuli, piano
David Khrikuli is a young Georgian pianist who shot to international attention as a finalist at the 2025 Chopin International Piano Competition, causing controversy when he was not awarded a prize despite being the critical and audience favourite. Born in Tblisi in 2001 and now resident in Madrid, his other competition successes have nevertheless helped to launch an international career.
He performs a fearless programme of some of the most challenging repertoire, from the sophisticated counterpoint and Baroque dances of Bach’s English Suite No. 2 and poetic intensity of Chopin’s Sonata No. 3, to the Impressionistic virtuosity of Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit and Rachmaninoff’s kaleidoscopic Corelli Variations.
Programme:
Bach – English Suite No.2 in A minor
Chopin – Sonata No.3 in B minor, Op.58
Interval
Ravel – Gaspard de la Nuit
Rachmaninoff – Corelli Variations, Op.42
