Music from Venice and Madrid

Academy Choir of Wimbledon

His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts

George Inscoe, conductor

The Academy Choir of Wimbledon returns with a feast of music from the late Renaissance. Tomás Luis de Victoria combines the beauty of sixteenth- century Italian writing with the passion and fervour of Spanish music. Giovanni Gabrieli and Giovanni Croce lived and breathed in the wondrous acoustics of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, which inspired them to take their music to new heights of grandeur. Joined by His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts and directed by George Inscoe (St Paul’s Cathedral), this promises to be an evening of resplendent, joyous music.
