Piers Adams’ four-piece baroque super-group The Red Priest has become an international phenomenon, turning the period instrument movement on its head with its thrilling, no-holds-barred approach to the genre. Headlining on many of the most prestigious classical festivals, the group has given over 1000 performances on four continents. As the original ‘Red Priest’, Antonio Vivaldi, is synonymous with the music of Venice we can expect music by Monteverdi, the Gabrielis, Marcello, Albinoni, Castello, Galuppi, and the ‘Red Priest’ himself.

As for Venice and her people, merely born to bloom and drop, Here on earth they bore their fruitage, mirth and folly were the crop: What of soul was left, I wonder, when the kissing had to stop?
Robert Browning, ‘A Toccata of Galuppi’s’
